U. Bunert et M. Bruhns, THERMAL CONDITIONS FOR THE SILO STORAGE O F WHITE SUGAR AND DRIED PULP PELLETS (REVIEW), Zuckerindustrie, 120(4), 1995, pp. 265-272
This paper describes the technical phenomena occurring in the storage
in tower silos of white sugar and pulp pellets, both hygroscopic mater
ials. It looks at the physico-technical principles of moisture incorpo
ration and presents the isotherms of sorption. In the case of sugar, d
istinctions must be drawn between free moisture, bound moisture and in
ternal moisture, only free moisture being amenable to removal. The aut
hors list the technical possibilities of conditioning and provide an o
verview of the volume flow data found in the literature for silo venti
lation.
