Abstract
Five new biguanides, found as impurities in chlorhexidine digluconate solutions, were synthesized by addition of amines to aminonitriles. No nstoichiometric additions required to prepare the unsymmetrical biguan ides resulted in low yields of the desired impurities, which were isol ated by flash chromatography and characterized by HPLC-UV, HPLC-MS, an d H-1 NMR.
