Abstract
A new method is proposed for fractionation of soil humic substances by electrophoresis in 10 percent polyacrylamide gel in a tris-borate sys tem in the presence of a complex of denaturing agents. For six soils o f different genesis, well reproducible qualitatively similar electroph erograms are obtained with separation of humic substances into five di screte zones. Scanning of the electropherograms shows that soils of di fferent genesis are distinguished by the quantitative ratio of the fra ctions obtained.
