We report on the use of '2D' time-velocity correlations to study in re
al time the dynamics of reactions with multiple channels. By resolving
the kinetic energy on the femtosecond time scale we are able to direc
tly identify the direct-mode and complex-mode dissociation pathways of
iodobenzene. The coherent wave packet dynamics and the nature of IVR
in the benzene ring are discussed and related to the experimental obse
rvations.
