Abstract
Thermal ageing of polypyrrole (PPy) is studied. PPy is synthesized by oxidation of pyrrrole with ferric chloride or tosylate. PPy synthesize d with ferric tosylate is more conductive than PPy synthesized with fe rric chloride. Both polymers have a similar behaviour at 120 degrees C , 140 degrees C and 180 degrees C. In oxidative atmosphere, degradatio n of PPY follows a first order kinetics after a transition period domi nated by the diffusion of oxygen.
