P. Vincent et al., THERMAL-STABILITY OF TOSYLATE DOPED POLYP YRROLE WITH OR WITHOUT THE PRESENCE OF CHLORIDES, Journal de chimie physique et de physico-chimie biologique, 92(4), 1995, pp. 811-814
Thermal ageing of polypyrrole (PPy) is studied. PPy is synthesized by
oxidation of pyrrrole with ferric chloride or tosylate. PPy synthesize
d with ferric tosylate is more conductive than PPy synthesized with fe
rric chloride. Both polymers have a similar behaviour at 120 degrees C
, 140 degrees C and 180 degrees C. In oxidative atmosphere, degradatio
n of PPY follows a first order kinetics after a transition period domi
nated by the diffusion of oxygen.
