Abstract
Amphiphilic merocyanine dyes form J-aggregates at the air-water interf ace. For any application the thermal behavior of the monolayers is an important issue and thermally induced phase transitions in monolayers have been intensively studied. Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of two mer ocyanine dyes mixed with matrix molecules (see figure) have been exami ned and the optimization of the thermal stability of such systems disc ussed.
