L. Wolthaus et al., MOLECULAR ARRANGEMENT AND THERMAL REORGANIZATION OF MEROCYANINE J-AGGREGATE MONOLAYERS ON SOLID SUBSTRATES, Advanced materials, 7(5), 1995, pp. 453-457
Amphiphilic merocyanine dyes form J-aggregates at the air-water interf
ace. For any application the thermal behavior of the monolayers is an
important issue and thermally induced phase transitions in monolayers
have been intensively studied. Langmuir-Blodgett monolayers of two mer
ocyanine dyes mixed with matrix molecules (see figure) have been exami
ned and the optimization of the thermal stability of such systems disc
ussed.
