The high photosensitivity of azo-compound-based photoreceptors is cons
idered to be due to molecular-aggregation-induced geminate-pair dissoc
iation rather than a photo-induced electron-transfer reaction. Both ag
gregated and non-aggregated carrier-generating materials are employed
in order to investigate the mechanism of this process, which has pract
ical implications for the development of electrophotography.
