F. Aksouh et al., INFLUENCE OF THE LASER-BEAM DIRECTION ON THE MOLECULAR ION EJECTION ANGLE IN MATRIX-ASSISTED LASER-DESORPTION IONIZATION, Rapid communications in mass spectrometry, 9(6), 1995, pp. 515-518
Angular intensity distribution of molecular ions ejected in matrix-ass
isted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) have been measured for two s
ymmetrical positions of the laser beam with respect to the sample surf
ace normal (+60 degrees and -60 degrees). It is shown that the molecul
ar ions are ejected in the direction opposite to the incident laser be
am with an average angle of similar to 30 degrees which does not depen
d on the molecular weight in the mass range m/z = 1000 to 25 000. Expe
riments were performed with the matrix alpha-cyano4-hydroxy-cinnamic a
cid.
