Abstract
This letter presents research results on a new method for the suppress ion of terrain-scattered clutter due to jamming of the radar footprint . The method applies temporal adaptive filtering to the received radar signal that removes the correlated clutter component. This approach r elies on the transmitted radar signal having coded phases, such as a d iscretized chirp or polyphase waveform. Because of the prior knowledge of coded phase of the transmitted waveform, it is not necessary to ha ve an auxiliary record of the jamming signal to achieve clutter suppre ssion.
