Abstract
Oscillating photoluminescence in the Ce(III)/Ce(IV) catalyzed Belousov -Zhabotinsky reaction is described. No quantitative data can be obtain ed from luminescence intensity measurements, due to quenching and inne r filter effects. From lifetime measurements, it is possible to evalua te the quenching effect, which is attributed to bromate ions that oxid ize the excited Ce(III) species. Some consequences are discussed.
