A series of new glasses in the As-Ge-Ag-Se-Te-I system was studied. Th
e glass-forming region of the ternary system involving As2Se3, GeTe an
d Agl was obtained. Physical properties of some typical As2Se3-GeTe-Ag
I glasses demonstrated their prospect of applications in optics for th
e mid-infrared region. High-purity glasses were prepared by a special
designed technology. The structure of the chalcohalide glass studied i
s discussed.
