The emission spectra of Nd3+-doped ZrF4-BaF2-LaF3-AlF3-NaF (ZBLAN) gla
ss fiber at different pump power levels have been measured and studied
. A shift of laser oscillation wavelength is observed in Nd3+-doped ZB
LAN glass fiber and it can be considered as a competition among transv
erse modes. The measured spectra demonstrate the splitting of fluoresc
ence with increase of pump power at 514.5 nm, regarded as the site com
petition of Nd3+ ions in the excited state. The superfluorescence emis
sion and a unified process from fluorescence to laser oscillation pump
ed by a Ti:sapphire laser have been obtained.
