Experimental studies have been carried out on the motions of the model
platform under intact, progressive flooding and post flooding conditi
ons. During these extensive experimental studies, two wave heading ang
les, which are head and beam seas, were taken into account and the mot
ion experiments were repeated for two different GMs. Before the model
tests under intact, progressive flooding and post flooding conditions,
inclination tests and natural period tests were carried out in order
to identify the actual GM of the model and to measure the natural heav
e, roll and pitch periods of the model. Instrumentation for motion res
ponse experiments is described. Descriptions of calibration procedures
, motion records and the motion test procedure are given in detail. On
ly a few of about 110 individual experimental runs performed to measur
e heave, sway, surge, roll, pitch rind yaw motions as well as the floo
ding mass versus flooding time are presented and discussed.
