Short term impact of water quality on the excretion and respiration ra
tes of Euterpina acutifrons, revealed that industrial water significan
tly lowered the metabolic activity of the organism, while agricultural
water showed insignificant effect. Fed organisms reported higher meta
bolic rates. Derived N/P and O/P ratios are elevated for industrial wa
ter (10.8 and 370) while O/N were higher for agricultural water (56).
