T. Hirai et al., DYNAMIC STRESS-ANALYSIS OF FRACTURE CALLUS, JSME international journal. Series A, mechanics and material engineering, 38(2), 1995, pp. 242-248
A fracture callus changes in structural characteristics in response to
changes in the dynamic loading condition during the fracture hearing
process. The purpose of this research is to understand the behavior of
the intelligent material system during the process. In this paper, th
e stress wave propagation behavior of the fracture callus is investiga
ted using finite-element analysis to estimate the structural change. I
t was concluded from the numerical result that the structural changes
of the fracture callus relate closely to the differences in mechanical
impedances between the constitutive materials in the callus. The resu
lt was experimentally verified by means of the fracture model using th
e femur of a rat.
