U. Maschke et al., POLYMER-DISPERSED LIQUID-CRYSTAL MATERIALS PREPARED BY ELECTRON-BEAM-INITIATED POLYMERIZATION, Journal of applied polymer science, 56(12), 1995, pp. 1547-1555
Polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films were prepared using elec
tron beam radiation by a polymerization-induced phase separation proce
ss. The composite material was obtained from a blend including a polye
ster acrylate and the nematic liquid crystal mixture E7. The electro-o
ptic properties of the PDLC films were investigated as a function of f
ilm thickness. The obtained transmission vs. voltage curves exhibit a
good reproducibility, low threshold voltages, and a high transmission
in the on state. (C) 1995 John Wiley and Sons, Inc.
