Within the framework of the shell model including a surface delta-inte
raction, the single-neutron energies of Sn-114 up to the N = 82 gap ar
e deduced and the spectrum of Sn-114 is interpreted. A remarkable agre
ement between experiment and theory is achieved up to J(pi) = 16(+) fo
r the positive-parity states and J(pi) = 13(-) for the negative-parity
states.
