Abstract
Equivalent conductivity (Lambda) of Ca(NO3)(2).4H(2)O has been determi ned in water and glucose-water mixtures by time domain reflectometry ( TDR). Lambda(0) has been computed by a non-linear least squares treatm ent of Lambda against the square root of concentration of the electrol yte. In an aqueous solution, the variation of Lambda(0), with temperat ure (0-50 degrees C) obeys the relation Lambda(0)=2.5 T+70.0. In the c ase of glucose-water mixtures (0-2 M glucose), Lambda(0) decreases wit h increase in molarity of glucose, and increases with increase in temp erature. The Walden product Lambda(0) eta is not constant for all the mixtures, but the constancy is exhibited by a function Lambda(0) eta(0 .7) The degree of dissociation (alpha) of the electrolyte does not cha nge with glucose percentage.
