The synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical and photophysical
properties of the Re-I and Ru-II complexes of permethylated beta-cycl
odextrins, functionalized on the primary face by a 2,2'-bipyridine lig
and, are reported. For comparison, model compounds, in which the cyclo
dextrin was replaced by a Me group, were also prepared and their prope
rties investigated.
