Wheat Triticum sp. cultivars BR 33 - Guara and BR 39 - Parauna were se
lected in Planaltina, DF, Brazil, from varietal introductions of CIMMY
T, Mexico in 1983. After being tested in regional variety trials betwe
en 1989 and 1991, they were recommended at the National Commission for
Wheat Research for irrigated cultivation in the dry season. BR 33 - G
uara and BR 39 - Parauna, evaluated as CPAC 841222 and CPAC 841244, ar
e recommended for cultivation in Goias, Minas Gerais and Federal Distr
ict, respectively. Their performance was superior to the standard, cul
tivars BR 10 - Formosa and Anahuac, for grain yield, resistance to som
e diseases, and other desirable agronomic characteristics.
