The Turkish species Euphorbia myrsinites has yielded four new tetracyc
lic diterpene tetraesters from a cytotoxic acetone extract, in additio
n to the known cycloartane-type triterpenoids and betulin. The new com
pounds and their hydrolysis product have been extensively characterize
d by high field spectroscopic techniques, and were shown to be four ne
w tetraesters of the parent alcohol, myrsinol.
