lines, based upon a critical review of the scientific literature, rega
rding the use of actigraphy in the clinical evaluation of sleep disord
ers. Though not indicated for the routine assessment of sleep disorder
s, actigraphy may be a useful adjunct, in certain circumstances, to a
detailed history and examination when demonstration of multiday rest-a
ctivity patterns is necessary to diagnose, document severity, and guid
e proper treatment of sleep disorders.
