2,6-Diacetylpyridine bis{[DL-hydroxy(phenyl)acetic]hydrazone} (H(4)dap
m) has been synthesized and spectroscopically characterized (IR and NM
R) along with six metal (Cu, Ni, Fe) complexes. The crystal structure
of [Ni(H(4)dapm)(H(2)dapm)].13H(2)O has been determined by X-ray diffr
action methods. It crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c wit
h a = 20.977(6), b = 20.040(6), c = 14.328(3) Angstrom, beta = 100.67(
2)degrees and Z = 4. The complex has a twofold crystallographically im
posed symmetry with the nickel atom in a distorted octahedral environm
ent consisting of six nitrogen atoms from two ligand molecules.
