DISINFECTION IN AQUACULTURE

The authors present information on the susceptibility to various disin fectants of some important pathogens in aquaculture, with special refe rence to the farming of salmonids. Practical disinfection procedures f or nse in the aquaculture industry are then described, on the basis of experience obtained in Norway and in other countries with a large sal mon-farming industry. In addition to routine disinfection at aquacultu re sites, the authors also describe disinfection procedures for use in outbreaks of notifiable diseases, as well as the treatment/disinfecti on of waste water and offal from the slaughtering and processing of aq uaculture products.
