Fungicidal properties of a new fungicide, fluazinam (IKF-1216) were in
vestigated. Fluazinam had a broad fungicidal spectrum in antifungal te
st in vitro. It showed a good preventive efficacy against plant diseas
es caused by species of Botrytis, Colletotrichum, Phytophthora , Pseud
operonospora, Pyricularia, Sclerotinia and Venturia in a glasshouse te
st. Fluazinam had little curative and systemic efficacies; however, it
showed a good residual efficacy with rain fastness against cucumber g
ray mold and tomato late blight. Furthermore, fluazinam was active aga
inst isolates of Phytophthora infestans which differed in sensitivity
to metalaxyl. It also showed a high efficacy against the disease cause
d by benomyl-and procymidone-resistant isolates of Botrytis cinerea.
