Abstract
Isolation of a new and novel binaphthoquinone designated as roseanone along with known naphthoquinones, droserone (3), elliptinone (5) and z eylanone (4) is reported from the phenolic fraction of the ethyl aceta te extract of the roots of Plumbago rosea Linn. The structure of rosea none has been elucidated as 1 by spectroscopic and chemical studies.
