Cd1-xZnxTe for x = 0.04; 0.05 and 0.1 in the ternary system Cd_Zn_Te w
as prepared from the elements by solid state reaction-in an evacuated
quartz ampoule, at 1100 degrees C, for 72 hours. The synthesis of tern
ary system shows similar to CdTe. Deviation from the stoichiometric is
relatively small (0.05%) and at a first approximation this system can
be assumed to be a pseudobinary one in the investigated composition r
ange.
