RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN MICROEMULSION COPOLYMERIZATION

Recent results obtained in microemulsion copolymerization are presente d. The characteristic features of microemulsions - large interfacial a rea and great variety of structures - have been used with profit to yi eld novel materials with interesting morphologies and properties. The examples considered here include the synthesis of i) novel solid porou s materials ii) functionalized microlatex particles iii) water-soluble copolymers with specific properties iv) hydrophilic-hydrophobic copol ymers. The characteristics inherent to each of these syntheses are dis cussed.
