EL-NINO SOUTHERN-OSCILLATION (ENSO) AND E ARTH ROTATION VARIATIONS

The El-Nino Southern Oscillation and acceleration of the Earth rotatio n over 140 years (from 1852 to 1992) are investigated by spectral anal ysis method. For both phenomena their power spectra frequency characte ristics are shown to coincide closely. Many periods obtained are simil ar to those for solar activity variations. The relationship between El -Nino Southern Oscillation and Earth rotation variations as well as po ssible reasons for coincidence of solar activity cycles with terrestri al phenomena are discussed.
