M. Bounou et al., IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF AN OPTIMAL POWER-FLOW SOLUTION BY TAGUCHI METHOD, INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ELECTRICAL POWER AND ENERGY SYSTEMS, 17(2), 1995, pp. 113-118
This paper aims at improving the quality of an OFF (optimal power flow
) solution including power demand uncertainty. The goal is to obtain a
best setting of the input which results in a performance characterist
ic of the output close to target with minimum variability. Here, a pos
t-optimality procedure which incorporates the philosophy and the metho
d of Taguchi is applied. Power demand variability is included in the a
nalysis by means of the expected value of a loss function which is est
imated by the Taguchi orthogonal arrays approach. The best and least s
ensitive solution over uncontrollable power system variability is sele
cted by means of signal-to-noise ratios. The paper overviews the Taguc
hi approach, and illustrates the application of the method to improve
the 'quality' of an OPF involving the IEEE 14-bus network.
