Abstract
This account outlines the results obtained in the author's laboratory in the field of mixed organophosphorus-sulfur compounds with a special emphasis on their synthetic applications. General approaches to funct ionalized cyclopent-2-en-1-ones and cyclopentanones using new phosphor us and sulfur reagents are presented. The synthetic value of these met hods is demonstrated by the total synthesis of dihydrojasmone, methyle nomycin B, sarkomycin and isoterrein.
