Np. Maksimova et al., CHARACTERISTICS OF FLUORESCENT PIGMENT PYOVERDIN P-M PRODUCED BY PSEUDOMONAS-PUTIDA BACTERIA, Microbiology, 63(6), 1994, pp. 587-590
It was shown that the fluorescent pigment pyoverdin P-m synthesized by
Pseudomonas putida bacteria is a siderophore and possesses' antibacte
rial activity. The adsorption spectrum of the pigment exhibits two max
ima: in the ultraviolet (230 nm) and visible (400 nm) regions. Amino a
cid analysis showed that the pyoverdin P-m molecule includes, in addit
ion to a dihydroxyquinoline nucleus, the following five amino acids: t
hreonine,;serine, lysine, hydroxyaspartic acid, and N-delta-hydroxyomi
thine in a 3:2:1:1:1 ratio.
