Abstract
A high weft insertion rate in a weaving loom can cause yarn breakage a nd a non-uniform tension in the weft yarn at shed closure. A numerical simulation model is proposed that is able to calculate the tension pr ofile in the weft yarn during insertion. It is illustrated how the sim ulation model can be used to optimise a controllable weft yarn brake.
