Abstract
A comparable study of microwave versus thermal heating is described fo r the N-[F-18]-fluoroalkylation of noraporphines. As compared to therm al treatment, different products were obtained during microwave treatm ent. Thermal treatment resulted in the loss of the protection of the c atechol functionality of the noraporphines (O-deacylation), whereas du ring microwave treatment N-[F-18]-fluoroalkylation was observed. The r esults described in this report might suggest that the influence of mi crowaves on chemical transformations is not exclusively thermal.
