Tumors of peripheral nerves in the upper extremity are uncommon. All t
oo frequently this diagnosis is made intraoperatively or postoperative
ly with the potential to compromise the outcome of treatment. An appro
priate index of suspicion is necessary for inclusion of peripheral ner
ve tumors and a differential diagnosis of an upper extremity mass. Kno
wledge of this group of neoplasms will help direct evaluation and trea
tment.
