Abstract
The structure of NiV2O6.H2O consists of infinite chains of [VO4] tetra hedra running along the [100] direction connected by isolated [Ni2O8(H 2O)(2)] dimeric entities to build up a three-dimensional network. A va lence-bond analysis allows the identification of the O atoms of the wa ter molecules.
