The structure determination of ']bis[cis-dichloro(triethylphosphine)pl
atinum(II)] revealed the occurrence of discrete dimers, formed by two
platinum complexes related by an inversion centre and connected by the
(-CH2-CH2-) group attached to the S atoms, with the centre of the C-C
bond [C13-C13' = 1.54(1) Angstrom] located at the origin. The metal h
as a cis-square-planar coordination environment, and the geometries ab
out the P and S atoms are tetrahedral.
