Abstract
The title compound, yl)-2,3-dicarba-1-lithia-closo-heptaborane(6)]}-Tb kappa(2)B(4),B-5:Tb'kappa(2)B(5),B-6;Tb kappa(2)B(4),B-5:Tb ''kappa(2 )B(5),B-6;Tb'kappa(2)B(4),B-5:Tb THF''kappa(2)B(5),B-6-tris(tetrahydro furanlithium) benzene solvate, SiMe(3))(2)-2,3-C2B4H4](3)})-[Li(C4H8O) ](3)].C6H6, crystallized in the triclinic space group P ($) over bar 1 . The structure of this cluster consists of three closo-terbacarborane s, three cage-bridged Li(THF) units, and three Tb-bridged closo-lithia carboranes that form a tricapped trigonal prism with Tb atoms in the c apping positions. A centrally located O atom triply bridges the Tb ato ms [Tb- O = 2.185 (3), 2.170 (3) and 2.173 (3) Angstrom], forming a ne arly coplanar arrangement [Tb-O-Tb = 118.9 (2), 119.0 (2) and 120.1 (2 )degrees]. The methoxy group in the cluster is linked to the apical Li atoms of the three closo-lithiacarboranes in a distorted tetrahedral fashion [average Li-O-Li = 105.9 (5)degrees and average C-O-Li = 112.8 (5)degrees].
