Abstract
The structure of 1-chloroacetylindole-2,3(2H,3H)-dione, C10H6ClNO3, ha s been determined. The heterocyclic ring is essentially planar making a dihedral angle of 8.3 (1)degrees with the chloroacetyl moiety. The C (2)-C(3) distance is 1.542 (6) Angstrom. The molecules are linked thro ugh Cl ... H-C interactions.
