Lean consulting is a particular principle of consulting which makes us
e of the knowledge, the skills and resources of clients. It is not pra
cticed because of the consultants' missing capacities or of the client
's lacking financial resources. In this paper the main characteristics
of lean consulting are described, experiences with lean consulting fr
om the viewpoint of clients and the author are discussed, and conclusi
ons drawn for the further development and refinement of the principle.
