This article is a review of the contributions from our research group
to the chemistry of the title compounds. Studies related with the form
ation of adducts, hydrolysis leading to different oxo- and hydro- comp
ounds, reduction to lower oxidation states, the behaviour of the reduc
ed species in reactions with various ligands and oxidizing agents as w
ell as alkylation and insertion reactions of isocyanides into metal-me
thyl bonds are summarized.
