The amplitude oscillations of a sound propagating transversly to magne
tic field H in a plate of iron borate have been investigated. These os
cillations are called the Gakel'-Turov oscillations (GTO), It was foun
d that GTO have fine structure, It is shown (hat in the case of H < 20
0 Oe the period of GTO differs considerably from theoretical predictio
n that considers only the magnetostriction mechanism of the magnetoela
stic connection. The above peculiarities are discussed in the framewor
k of the piezomagnetic properties of the crystal.
