Abstract
The pharmaceutical industry offers the world's population alleviation and cure from a variety of medical conditions, while also contributing to the economic performance of many countries. The potential importan ce of these characteristics have made the industry an area of intense debate, criticism and praise. This review aims to clarify some of the arguments surrounding the industry on both sides of the fence, and by doing so, to provide a balanced introduction on which opinions may be made.
