Ma. Ahmed et al., EXPERIMENTAL AND NATURAL INFESTATIONS OF SARCOPTES-SCABIEI IN GOATS AND SHEEP, Indian Journal of Animal Sciences, 65(4), 1995, pp. 396-398
Clinical studies, at weekly intervals, in goats and sheep in experimen
tal and natural infestation of Sarcoptes scabiei revealed that the les
ions were more diffuse and generalized in goats, and were localized in
patches, espectially at the margin of ears and planum nasale in sheep
. Both the hosts exhibited similar clinical manifestations due to natu
ral contact and experimental infestation with mites of homologous host
origin, but the severity of infestation was less in naturally in rest
ed animals. Sarcoptes scabiei, both of goat origin and sheep origin, w
ere strictly host specific.
