In this second paper of the serie, the application of methods to predi
cte vapor-liquid equilibria in the calculation of residual curve maps
and their interest as a tool in the study of azeotropic or extractive
distillation systems and in the selection of entrainers for different
homogeneous mixtures, is studied. Different separation sequences are p
resented, studying the importance of diverse variables, such as the re
circulation composition, feed, reflux and pressure. Diverse aspects re
lated to the topology of the residual curve maps were also analyzed, s
uch as the application of residual vapor separatrices and rectificatio
n profile intersections.
