Abstract
Mid-infrared intersub-band emission is investigated in asymmetric coup led quantum wells. The authors predict that stimulated emission can oc cur between excited sub-bands under either intersub-band or band-to-ba nd optical pumping when the energy separation between the ground and f irst excited sub-bands equals the LO phonon energy.
