We demonstrate that the main geometrical and acoustical characteristic
s of the vocal tract can be simply obtained from an acoustic contrast
criterion applied to the shape deformation of an arbitrary acoustic tu
be. The pharynx cavity and the vowel triangle are then automatically S
ound. These results make possible the fact that the evolution of the h
uman vocal tract could have been driven by communication needs.
