Abstract
Collective spin waves in an ultrathin epitaxial bcc Fe (001) wedge hav e been investigated using Brillouin scattering at room temperature. Sp in wave frequencies were determined as a function of the external magn etic field for various Fe thicknesses ranging between 2.6 Angstrom and 8.9 Angstrom. We found that the stable direction of the magnetization of the wedge under zero magnetic field turns over from the in-plane d irection to the surface normal below d approximate to 3 Angstrom.
