This report describes the gross and microscopic lesions of myocarditis
secondary to Haemophilus somnus septicemia. Diagnostic evaluations of
formalin-fixed and fresh sections of bovine myocardium were reviewed.
Records from January 1981 through December 1992 were included, and ca
ses were considered for review if there was evidence of focal myocardi
tis, H. somnus septicemia, H. somnus pneumonia, encephalitis, or any c
ombination of these findings with evidence of H. somnus infection as a
part of the primary disease process.
