The cyclic compounds of Me(2)Si[eta(5)-C5H4Fe (CO)(2)](2)SnR(2) [R = C
l (1), Me (2), Ph(3)] were synthesized via insertion of SnCl2 to Fe-Fe
bond of complex 1, Me(2)Si[eta(5)-C5H4Fe(CO)](2) (mu-CO)(2) and the r
eactions of the related dianion {Me(2)Si[eta(5)-C5H4Fe(CO)(2)](2)}(2-)
with R(2)SnCl(2) (R = Me, Ph). They were characterized by IR, H-1 NMR
and elementary analysis. No expected product was isolated from the co
rresponding reactions of complex 2, (eta(5),eta(5)-C(5)H(4)SiMe(2)OSiM
e(2)C(5)H(4)) [Fe(CO)](2) (mu-CO)(2). The crystal structure of 3 was d
etermined by X-ray diffraction. The crystals of 3 are monoclinic, spac
e group P2(1)/n with a = 1.0384(3) nm, b = 1.6384(1) nm, c = 1.5762(5)
nm and beta = 97.93(2)degrees, V = 2.656(2) nm(3), Z = 4, D-x= 1.71 g
/mL. The final agreement factor, R = 0.036.
